Port Chalmers

3 Church St, Port Chalmers 9023

The Port Chalmers cemetery, as might be expected in a port town, has many burials of people from around the world.

You’ll be taken up to the cemetery from the port, first passing by the Port Chalmers Presbyterian Church, a beautiful stone building with unusual features and some Weller men history... if you're not tired of the shanty by now!

Or meet at the cemetery, taking advantage of the small amount of car parking available.

Hear stories exclusive to Darkest Dunedin.  A sailor from Robert Falcon Scott's last and fatal expedition and a veteran of the US Civil War are there - and local people who went over the seas to meet their destinies.  It is a place with a view down the harbour and out to sea.  A place full of stories. Tour is 90 minutes.

Port to Port Tours is a fabulous activity to pair with this tour.  Rachel is an experienced guide and skipper, her harbour wildlife tours are stunning and informative.  It's a real treat to get so close to an albatross!  If you would like to combine them as a package, we can help you out.
